Big Pond

Debora Teo

I have been creating art occasionally throughout my life but it was not
until the beginning of 2010, having ample time in my hands that i
started creating art on a full-time basis. I am a self taught artist, having
no formal education in art. I paint solely by passion and for the love for
art. Occasionally, dream inspired. Expressing myself in my artwork is
as important as it is for me to breath. Expressing myself through art
enables me to reach deep down into my true essential self and share
that state of interconnectedness and "entanglement". When an idea
becomes compulsion, I express it. I believe that Art is an essential
requirement of living. Born in 1973, a Malaysian, born and raised in
Brunei Darussalam, i lived in Miri, Sarawak for most of my adult life.
I am currently residing in Kuala Lumpur. I have two beautiful children
Having no formal education in art and as a self taught artist, I construct
images of thoughts. Using a personal pictorial language, I analyze
relationships, describe dreams, observe personalities and my
surroundings. My exhibits present the refreshing, perhaps enlightening,
memories of my childhood, my surroundings and people. Some of my
artworks also depicts my love for sculptures, figurines with cultural
elements and art seen on my travels.
I paint mainly in acrylic on canvas. Obsessive circle drawings and swirls
are just some of the styles you will uncover when you delve into my artwork.
